A notorious fugitive, wanted for nearly two years in connection with a violent mob attack case, has finally been apprehended by Chandannagar Police in a dramatic late-night operation. The arrest brings closure to a case that had terrorized a Pune neighborhood and challenged law enforcement’s persistence.

The case dates back to October 2023, when a group of 6-8 assailants on motorcycles allegedly threatened a victim’s life, vandalized vehicles, and terrorized residents in the Wadgaonsheri area. The accused, armed with sharp weapons and wooden sticks, had created panic that even gathered crowds fled in fear. Despite multiple charges including rioting, unlawful assembly, and Arms Act violations, one key suspect had remained elusive – mocking police efforts for two years while frequently changing locations.

The breakthrough came when undercover officers received a tip about the suspect’s presence near Kharadi. When police moved in, the accused attempted to flee but was chased down and captured after a brief pursuit. His identification confirmed he was indeed the long-sought perpetrator from the 2023 case.

The arrest operation was conducted under the supervision of senior police officials,  DCP Himmat Jadhav zone 4 , ACP Pranjali Sonawane , Senior Police Inspector Seema Dhakne, PSI Ajay Aswale, Havaldar VIshwanath Gone, Shekhar Shinde, Ramchandra Gurav and Vikas Kadam.  Marking a significant victory for the Chandannagar police station team that had doggedly pursued this case. Authorities highlight this apprehension as evidence that persistent investigative efforts ultimately prevail, even when fugitives believe they’ve outmaneuvered the law.

The successful operation serves as both a warning to other wanted criminals and reassurance to citizens that delayed justice doesn’t mean denied justice in Pune’s ongoing crackdown on organized violence and public intimidation cases.
