At the UN’s 80th anniversary, India condemned Pakistan’s terror links, cited ‘Operation Sindoor’ post-Pahalgam attack, and opposed IMF aid to Pakistan, urging ethical lending standards and global accountability.
Pune | 23 June, 2025: On the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, India took a firm stand for global peace, multilateral cooperation, and a tough stance against terrorism. In a powerful address at the UN, India’s Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish strongly criticized Pakistan’s role in promoting cross-border terrorism and misusing global financial aid.
Highlighting how global conflicts have evolved since the Cold War, Harish noted the growing influence of terrorist organizations. Referring to the recent Pahalgam terror attack—in which 26 Indian tourists were killed—he revealed the retaliatory action taken under ‘Operation Sindoor’ that targeted terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
India contrasted its position as a mature democracy and rising economy with that of Pakistan, which it described as a nation trapped in extremism, terrorism, and chronic debt dependency, repeatedly turning to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for bailouts.
In a stern message, India accused Pakistani-backed terrorists of attacking schools and killing innocent children, and alleged that the Pakistani army bombs refugee camps near the Afghan border, leading to further civilian casualties. Harish said, “Such a country has no moral right to speak on the issue of terrorism.”
India Opposes New IMF Aid to Pakistan
India also strongly opposed a new financial package being considered by the IMF for Pakistan, alleging that Islamabad misuses international funds to sponsor terrorism. India demanded the inclusion of ethical standards in global lending frameworks, suggesting that countries funding extremism should not be eligible for unconditional financial support.
India’s address has added weight to the growing global call for accountability in both counter-terrorism and international financial aid, especially in regions suffering from violent extremism.
