Baner police busted two prostitution rackets operating as massage parlours, arresting managers and launching cases against owners. Authorities are tightening scrutiny, especially against property owners enabling such illegal activities.

Pune | May 14, 2025: Baner police have discovered two prostitution rings running under the cover of spa services in a significant crackdown on illegal activity concealed behind massage parlour frontstage. Police launched searches at two massage parlours in the Baner and Balewadi Phata area based on particular intelligence information.
During one such raid, officers discovered a sex racket running at a spa near Balewadi Phata. The manager was immediately taken into custody, while legal cases have also been registered against the spa owner and the individual leasing out the premises.Independent operations dispatched a decoy customer in to confirm illegal activity at another parlour. Confirmed, authorities began a rapid raid that led to the arrest of individuals operating the business. Both individuals are currently charged under the laws related to immoral trafficking and exploitation.
Verifying these advances, Senior Police Inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant of Baner Police Station said that charges registered and several arrests had been made. Strict instructions directed by Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar have been sent to increase action against such illicit companies running under the guise of wellness treatments.The city saw 36 such cases last year alone, which strengthened the campaign to hold property owners responsible should their premises be used for illegal activities in addition to punishing people running such businesses.
This is a social question rather than only a law enforcement one. Although eradicating such networks is vital, it is also vital to solve the systematic exploitation and lack of livelihood possibilities that drive people into such circumstances. More than just arrests; we also need rehabilitation, awareness-raising, rigorous commercial leasing space monitoring.
