Cocaine worth ₹6.35 crore was seized from a fertilizer unit in Satara. Five were booked, three detained. This is the district’s biggest drug bust, registered under the Narcotic Drugs Act.

Pune | May 24, 2025: Under a major operation, Talbid Police, along with Karhad Police, have taken 1.27 kg of cocaine valued ₹6.35 crore from a MIDC area fertiliser manufacturing facility. Suryaprabha Formacan was purportedly a front for the illicit narcotics activity. Superintendent of Police Tushar Doshi confirmed in a press conference at Satara that three individuals have been detained in connection with the case so far. This marks the first-ever seizure of such a large quantity of drugs in the district’s history.
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 against five individuals:
Amarsinh Jaywant Deshmukh (Company owner, Nandgaon, Tal. Satara)
Sameer Sudhakar Padwal (Vrindavan City, Malkapur, Tal. Karhad)
Ramesh Shankar Patil (Malharpeth, Tal. Patan)
Jeevan Chandrakant Chavan (Awarde, Tal. Patan)
Vishwanath Shipankar (Daund, Dist. Pune)
The police have maintained utmost secrecy throughout the operation and are continuing further investigation to uncover the full scale and network of the drug racket.

Alarming and revealing the expertise and reach of such criminal syndicates, the recovery of cocaine valued ₹6.35 crore in Satara district marks first of its type. Swift, thorough investigation and judicial action must follow, ensuring all culprits are brought to justice. Stronger surveillance and inter-departmental coordination are essential to prevent such misuse of industrial setups and to protect society from the drug menace.
