Darshan of Tuljabhawani Devi at Tuljapur temple has been suspended for 10 days from August 1 due to repair work. Devotees will only be allowed mukhdarshan during this period.
Tuljapur | August 1, 2025: In a significant development, the darshan of Tuljabhawani Devi, the revered ancestral deity of millions across Maharashtra, has been suspended for ten days at the Tuljapur temple in Dharashiv district. The decision, effective from 12 noon today (Thursday, August 1), was taken jointly by the State Archaeological Department and the temple administration in view of necessary repair work.
Cracks had reportedly developed in parts of the temple structure, raising concerns about safety. Hence, plastering and structural restoration work will be undertaken, particularly ahead of the upcoming Navratri festival, which sees an influx of lakhs of devotees.
During this period, entry inside the sanctum for full darshan will not be allowed, and devotees will only be permitted to have mukhdarshan (facial view) of the goddess from a distance.
Earlier, there were differences of opinion between the State Archaeological Department (Pune) and the Central Archaeological Department regarding the nature and extent of the repair work. However, both agencies have now reached a consensus, and the restoration will begin immediately.
This temporary suspension of darshan, though disappointing for many devotees, is a crucial step to preserve the heritage and ensure safety during future pilgrimages.
