In Dharashiv’s Bavi village, Laxman Jadhav killed his wife and two-year-old son before dying by suicide due to depression from online rummy losses. He had sold crores worth of property.
Dharashiv | June 21: A tragic triple death case has rocked the village of Bavi in Dharashiv taluka, where a man addicted to online gaming allegedly poisoned his wife and toddler son before taking his own life. The entire village has been left stunned after learning the reason behind the horrifying sequence of events.
The deceased, identified as Laxman Jadhav, had reportedly become deeply addicted to online rummy gaming over the past four years. What began as a distraction gradually spiraled into a dangerous obsession. In his pursuit of virtual wins, Laxman had allegedly sold off land worth crores of rupees, and even parted with his residential property, pushing his family into financial ruin.
On the day of the incident, Laxman first poisoned his two-year-old son, followed by his wife, and then later ended his own life by hanging himself. The three bodies were found together in the same house, triggering panic and sorrow across the locality.
During the police investigation, four registers and several key documents related to land transactions were recovered from the house. These contained detailed records of property sales and names connected to various online games, suggesting the extent of Laxman’s involvement and losses.
While it is clear that financial distress and online gambling addiction were central to this tragedy, police are also probing whether a fraudulent or dummy gaming platform was involved, and whether Laxman was cheated. The names of several gaming contacts mentioned in the recovered registers are now under police scrutiny.
This heartbreaking case is another grim reminder of how unchecked online gaming addiction can shatter lives. Authorities are now being urged to take stricter regulatory action against online gambling platforms, and ensure public awareness about the dangers of digital addiction.
