Nandurbar doctor scammed of ₹25.66 lakh in online stock market fraud. Cyber Cell intervened, froze accounts, and recovered ₹8.21 lakh after legal procedures. Police urge vigilance in digital investments.
Nandurbar | July 27, 2025: A doctor from Nandurbar, Dr. Martand Deshpande, became a victim of an online stock market scam after investing ₹25.66 lakh through a WhatsApp message that promised lucrative returns.
The scam came to light when Dr. Deshpande noticed no further communication from the alleged investor contact. Realizing the fraud, he immediately filed a complaint with the Nandurbar Cyber Cell.

Cyber Cell in-charge Hemant Patil launched a swift investigation and identified the bank accounts used by the fraudsters. Although a significant portion of the funds had already been withdrawn, the Cyber Cell managed to freeze ₹8.21 lakh before it was siphoned off.
Following due legal procedures, the recovered ₹8.21 lakh was returned to Dr. Deshpande with the court’s approval. The doctor expressed gratitude to the Cyber Cell for their prompt and effective action in retrieving part of the lost money.
Officials continue to caution citizens against falling prey to such scams and urge extreme caution while investing online.
