Ex-Commissioner Anil Pawar and his wife were questioned for 9 hours by ED over a financial scam. Allegedly destroyed evidence; both summoned again as probe widens to include others.
Mumbai | August 5, 2025: Former Vasai-Virar Municipal Commissioner Anil Kumar Pawar and his wife Bharti Pawar were questioned for over nine hours by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on August 4 in connection with an alleged financial irregularities case. The couple arrived at the ED’s Worli office around 11:45 am and left around 8:30 pm. They have been summoned again today (August 5) for further questioning.
According to sources, a total of six individuals, including Anil Pawar and his wife, are under the ED scanner. Four others are likely to be questioned in the coming week as the investigation deepens.
Evidence Allegedly Destroyed
A recent ED raid at Pawar’s official residence has sparked further controversy. Reportedly, upon spotting ED officials, Anil Kumar Pawar allegedly shut the door and destroyed key documents and cash by flushing them, in an attempt to eliminate potential evidence. These shocking revelations have raised suspicions about the scale of financial misdeeds during his tenure.
As the probe intensifies, all eyes are on what irregularities may be uncovered in this high-profile case involving the former civic chief.
