In Shivamogga, Karnataka, a woman was beaten to death during an exorcism ritual performed by a Tantrik. Her son watched helplessly. Three people, including him, have been arrested for murder.
Bengaluru | July 10 ,2025: In a shocking incident from Karnataka’s Shivamogga district, a woman lost her life after being brutally beaten during a so-called exorcism ritual. The horrifying act, which was reportedly carried out in the name of driving out a ghost, ended in tragedy on the night of July 6.
The victim, Geetamma, was allegedly taken by her son, Sanjay, to a local woman named Asha — a self-proclaimed Tantrik. Sanjay believed his mother was possessed and sought Asha’s help to “cure” her. But what unfolded was far from any healing practice.
According to police, Asha, accompanied by her husband Santosh, visited Geetamma’s home and initiated a violent ritual, insisting she was removing the spirit. What followed was a prolonged, brutal assault. The woman was dragged outside, accused of being possessed, and repeatedly beaten with a stick by Asha, while her son stood by, witnessing the horrific act.
The alleged exorcism lasted nearly four hours, from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., and was shockingly captured on video — now viral — where Geetamma is seen begging for water. Asha, however, declared that the ghost would only leave once the beatings stopped.
When Geetamma eventually collapsed, Asha declared her “cured.” But the moment she was taken back home, her condition worsened. Sanjay rushed her to the hospital, only to be told she had already succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities have since arrested all three involved — Asha, Santosh, and Sanjay — and registered a case of murder. The incident has sparked outrage, reigniting concerns over blind faith, superstition, and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals in the name of rituals.
