In Beed’s Gevrai taluka, a father was inhumanly beaten by 10-12 people at a Warkari sect school after requesting a refund of fees paid for his son’s education.
Beed | June 21: Despite increasing awareness and law enforcement, violence and intimidation in educational institutions continue to surface. A shocking incident has come to light from Tapbhumi Warkari Education Institute in Gevrai, Beed district, where a father was brutally assaulted by a group of men—allegedly for merely requesting a refund of the donation he paid toward his son’s education.
According to the information received, Manohar Kachru Ware, a resident of Chikhli (Gevrai taluka), had enrolled his son for spiritual and sectarian education at the Tapbhumi Warkari Sansthan School. For admission, he was asked to pay a donation of ₹50,000, of which he managed to pay ₹30,000 to Satywan Maharaj Late, who is associated with the institute.
However, due to certain issues concerning his child, the family had to cancel the admission. When Manohar Ware visited the school to ask for a refund, the situation turned violent. According to his statement, around 10 to 12 people cornered him, locked him in a room inside the school premises, and assaulted him brutally, threatening his life if he pursued the matter any further.
“They said if we start returning fees to one person, everyone will demand it. They told me I wouldn’t leave the place alive,” Ware recounted, lying injured and in pain. He sustained serious injuries to his legs, hands, and back, and the video of the assault has now gone viral, further inflaming public outrage.
Manohar Ware is currently undergoing treatment at the district hospital in Beed, and has filed a formal complaint, seeking strict action against Satywan Maharaj and his accomplices. He has also expressed concerns for his safety, fearing retaliation from those involved in the assault.
This incident has sparked widespread condemnation and has once again highlighted the urgent need for transparent governance in private and sect-run educational institutions, as well as stronger legal safeguards for guardians and students.
