Great Relief for Farmers: No Need to Upload 7/12 and 8A Extracts for Agriculture Schemes on MahaDBT

7/12

Maharashtra farmers no longer need to upload 7/12 and 8A extracts on MahaDBT. The Agristak number will suffice, making the process faster, simpler, and more transparent for availing agricultural schemes.

Pune | 14 July, 2025:  In a major relief for farmers across Maharashtra, Agriculture Commissioner Suraj Mandhare has announced that farmers will no longer need to upload the 7/12 and 8A land extracts while applying for government schemes through the MahaDBT portal. This significant decision aims to streamline the application process, reduce errors, and ensure faster access to benefits.

Now, farmers’ complete details — including landholding, Aadhaar, bank account, and land information — are accessible through the Agristak Farmer Identification Number, which is integrated into the MahaDBT system. With this central digital identity, manual uploads of land documents have become unnecessary.

Earlier, in some talukas, agriculture officers were rejecting applications due to missing 7/12 and 8A documents, which affected farmers’ chances under the first-come, first-served system. After complaints from affected farmers, Mandhare issued clear directives to Assistant Agriculture Officers, Taluka Agriculture Officers, and Area Officers not to demand these documents and to process applications solely based on the Agristak number.

The Agriculture Department has now formalized this order to ensure uniform application scrutiny across the state and avoid procedural delays. Farmers will continue to submit basic documents such as Aadhaar and account details, but land records will be auto-fetched via Agristak.

This move also aligns with the Central Government’s nationwide Agristak project, which has a provision of ₹6,000 crore to build a unified digital identity for farmers. The aim is to ensure transparent and efficient delivery of agricultural schemes.

With this change, farmers will save time, effort, and money. The application process will become smoother and more inclusive, enabling more farmers to access schemes without bureaucratic obstacles.
