Pune| May 29, 2025 : In a shocking scene straight out of an action film, a man was seen adhering to the bonnet of a speeding hack on Mumbai’s Western Expressway — right outside the Domestic field outstation. The heart- stopping incident, captured on camera by a observer, snappily went viral on social media and has since sparked a police disquisition.
According to officials, the incident unfolded after a heated argument broke out between a cab driver and a passenger near the terminal. As pressures burned, the cabbie allegedly shoved the passenger and tried to flee. In a hopeless attempt to stop him, the passenger jumped onto the bonnet of the moving vehicle. Instead of halting, the driver hit the gas—dragging the man for several meters along the busy expressway.
Eyewitnesses, stunned by the dangerous spectacle, recorded the event on their phones and immediately alerted the police and transport authorities. The video and location data were forwarded to the airport police, prompting swift legal action.
The cab driver, identified as Bhimprasad Mahanto, has been booked under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act for rash and negligent driving. His vehicle has also been seized.
The viral video shows the man desperately clutching the car’s bonnet edges as the vehicle hurtles forward—a terrifying reminder of how quickly road rage can escalate into life-threatening drama.
