After ITians’ appeal, CM Fadnavis promises major upgrades for Hinjewadi IT Park, including road widening, metro fixes, and municipal inclusion—responding to years of civic neglect and rising infrastructure woes.
Pune | July 10, 2025: In a significant development for Pune’s IT hub, a delegation representing the Hinjewadi IT Park and surrounding areas met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in Mumbai. The delegation, supported by local citizens and public representatives, demanded the inclusion of seven key villages, including Hinjewadi, into the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).
Responding positively, Chief Minister Fadnavis acknowledged the long-standing neglect of the IT Park’s infrastructure by Gram Panchayats. He assured that immediate measures will be taken to address critical issues such as poor roads, traffic congestion, and inadequate metro connectivity. One of the major announcements included widening the Laxmi Chowk road from four to six lanes to ease the bottleneck at the park’s entrance.
Fadnavis also committed to resolving metro-related problems and said the development of Hinjewadi would now proceed on a war footing. He emphasized that the state government is determined to support the rapidly growing IT workforce and improve their quality of life through better civic amenities.
Activist Sachin Londhe credited sustained efforts by citizens, IT professionals, and consistent media coverage—especially NDTV Marathi’s monsoon-time reports on potholes, traffic, and water issues—for pushing authorities into action. The IT Park, previously struggling with erratic services, including a severe water crisis, may finally be on the path to systemic improvement.
