Pune, May 31, 2025: After nearly two years of public outcry and judicial proceedings, justice has finally been served in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. A local court in Uttarakhand has convicted all three accused, including Pulkit Arya, the son of a former BJP leader, and sentenced them to life imprisonment.

Ankita, a 19-year-old receptionist at Vantara Resort in Yamkeshwar, Rishikesh, was brutally murdered on September 18, 2022. Her body was found days later in the Chila Canal, located far from the resort, triggering nationwide outrage.

Pulkit Arya, who owned the resort, along with two of his employees, were arrested after intense public pressure and local protests forced authorities to investigate the case seriously. It was revealed that there were attempts to suppress the case initially, but public sentiment and continuous demands for justice led to the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) by the state government.

The court confirmed that the charges of murder, destruction of evidence, and criminal conspiracy against the three accused were proven beyond doubt. Citizens across the country, especially in Uttarakhand, have welcomed the court’s verdict, calling it a long-awaited step toward justice for Ankita.
