Kangana Ranaut admits politics is new and challenging for her. She’s adjusting, not enjoying it yet, and doubts her qualifications for higher roles, saying public service wasn’t her original calling.
Shimla | 10 July, 2025: Bollywood actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut, now a Member of Parliament from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency, has revealed that her journey into politics isn’t all smooth sailing. In a recent podcast, the actor shared candid thoughts on how she entered the political arena and how she’s still adapting to its challenges.
Kangana, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in March 2024 and went on to win her seat in the Lok Sabha elections, admitted she’s still finding her footing in this new role. When asked if she enjoys being in politics, Kangana responded honestly, “I am getting used to it. I won’t say I love it. This kind of work is very different — it’s like social service, and that’s not something I ever imagined myself doing.”
She explained that while she’s passionately advocated for women’s rights in the past, dealing with local issues like drainage, road construction, and village-level governance is a different ballgame. “People approach me with problems that fall under the panchayat or state government. When I try to clarify that, they expect me to fix it with my own money,” she added with a hint of frustration.
When asked about her aspirations for higher political office — specifically whether she sees herself as a future Prime Minister — Kangana humbly denied having such ambitions. “I don’t think I’m qualified for that role,” she said, adding that social work has never been part of her upbringing. “I’ve lived a very self-sufficient life, and public service was never on my radar.”
Through her candid reflections, Kangana made it clear that while she has stepped into the world of politics, it’s still a journey she’s learning to navigate — one road, one issue at a time.
