Pune | 07 June, 2025: In a big relief to commuters, the traffic restrictions at Pune’s Katraj Chowk, enforced since November 29, 2024, have been removed, with traffic flowing normally from Saturday night, June 7, 2025. The restrictions were needed due to the ongoing construction of a flyover between Wonder City on the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass and Rajs Society Chowk on the Katraj-Kondhwa Road to ease perennial traffic congestion in the region.
The flyover construction project, which has been in progress for almost four years, also encountered delays in the installation of pillars, but substantial progress was achieved last year when the construction of pillars was completed. These modifications caused congestion on adjacent roads, which proved to be inconvenient for commuters. With the recent completion of segment installation, especially at Katraj Chowk, traffic police have made ways through barricades and reopened the original traffic paths. This is a major move towards relieving traffic congestion at one of Pune’s busiest intersections, with the flyover project almost reaching its final stages.
