A raid on a Kharadi drug party uncovered incriminating evidence on a suspect’s phone, leading to extended custody for five men. The investigation intensifies as police hunt for three women who fled the scene.

Pune | 31 July, 2025: A late-night raid in Kharadi has thrust Pune into the spotlight, unraveling a web of illicit activities at a lavish drug-fueled party. On July 26, 2025, Pune Police stormed StayBird Azure Suites, exposing a group of partygoers entangled in drug use and other questionable dealings. The operation led to the arrest of seven individuals, including two prominent bookies and a high-profile figure connected to a former minister. The discovery of photos, videos, and chats on one suspect’s phone has deepened the investigation, prompting authorities to extend custody for five of the accused until July 31.

The raid targeted a group that allegedly hosted similar parties at the same venue in April and May, raising concerns about a pattern of reckless behavior. Among the arrested are Shripad Yadav, 27, and Nikhil Poptani, 35, both from Amanora Park, alongside Sameer Sayyad, 41, Sachin Bhombe, 42, Isha Singh, 22, and Prachi Sharma, 23. The seventh suspect, a man named Rahul, was noted for serving hookah at the event. While five men remain in police custody for further questioning, the two women, Singh and Sharma, have been moved to magistrate custody.

Investigators are diving into the digital trail, sending ten mobile phones and laptops to cyber experts for analysis. The evidence recovered—party footage and conversations with several women—has opened new leads, particularly as police work to track down three women who slipped away during the raid. The focus is on uncovering the drug supply chain and identifying any additional players involved in these gatherings. The seized devices, including a laptop from one suspect’s residence, are expected to reveal more about the scale of the operation.

For the residents of Kharadi, this bust is both shocking and sobering, exposing a hidden underbelly of excess in their community. The involvement of well-connected individuals has sparked conversations about privilege and accountability. Families in the area are left wondering how such activities went unnoticed, while the police’s swift action offers reassurance that justice is being pursued.

The investigation, led by the Anti-Extortion Cell, reflects the Pune Police’s commitment to rooting out crime, no matter who is involved. The case has drawn attention not only for its high-profile connections but also for the meticulous detective work driving it forward. As the probe continues, authorities are determined to piece together the full scope of the drug network, ensuring those responsible face the consequences.

This unfolding drama underscores the challenges of tackling hidden crimes in urban hubs like Pune. The extended custody and ongoing hunt for the missing women signal that the police are far from done, working tirelessly to restore safety and trust in the community.
