A man in Latur’s Varwanti Tanda died by suicide, allegedly due to his wife’s illicit relationship. Police registered a case, arrested the wife, and are continuing the investigation into the matter.
Ahmedpur | July 30, 2025: A man died by suicide at his home in Varwanti Tanda, Ahmedpur taluka of Latur district, on July 27, reportedly due to mental distress caused by his wife’s alleged illicit relationship. The Ahmedpur police registered a case against the wife and her alleged partner on July 28, following a complaint filed by the deceased’s brother.
According to police sources, Bhim Uttam Chavan was found unconscious in his home on the afternoon of July 27. Family members rushed him to a private hospital in Ahmedpur, but doctors declared him brought dead. His body was sent for autopsy at the local rural hospital, where it was confirmed that he had died by hanging.
The deceased’s brother, Arjun Uttam Chavan, filed a formal complaint alleging that Bhim’s wife, Kalpana Bhim Chavan, was involved in an ongoing immoral relationship with a man from the same village, Devidas Rajaram Chavan. He claimed Bhim took the extreme step due to emotional trauma from this alleged affair.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections on July 28. Kalpana Bhim Chavan, the deceased’s wife, has been arrested, and further investigation into the case is underway. Police are also examining the role of the second accused, Devidas Chavan.
