Maharashtra to Launch Country’s First Unified Training Center for Class I Officers at Yashada’s New 120-Acre Campus

Maharashtra will establish India’s first state-level unified training center for Class I officers on a new 120-acre Yashada campus, aiming to enhance administrative coordination, governance quality, and officer efficiency.

Pune | June 25, 2025 — Maharashtra is set to become the first state in India to establish a centralized training hub for all Class I officers under one roof. On the lines of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie, this new center will be developed under the banner of Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (Yashada).

The state government has allotted 120 acres in Tathawade to expand Yashada’s capacity. This ambitious step is aimed at transforming the administrative machinery of Maharashtra by equipping newly appointed and in-service officers across all departments with cutting-edge training.

Currently, department-specific training is conducted in silos, and space constraints at Yashada’s existing Bavdhan campus have been limiting its scope. With this new campus, Yashada will:

Become the only such centralized academy in India at the state level
Set quality benchmarks for other training institutions in Maharashtra
Coordinate curriculum, training of trainers, and performance evaluations

This expansion was earlier announced by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, and the plan is now formally in motion with land allocation completed.

Director General Niranjan Sudhanshu shared key features of the upcoming academy:

Dedicated training blocks for multi-department officer batches
Hostels and eco-friendly accommodation for officers
Library, auditorium, and digital learning zones
Exposure to national-level speakers and experts
Training in interdepartmental coordination and new technologies

The focus will be on comprehensive capacity building, ensuring officers are better equipped to handle multi-dimensional development projects and public service challenges.
