Pune, April 21, 2025 : The selected films Snow Flower, Sthal, and Khalid Ka Shivaji, which have been officially chosen for screening, along with Juna Furniture, which has received a special selection nod.
These films will be part of the festival scheduled to take place in France from May 14 to 22, 2025.
This marks a continued tradition since 2016 of Marathi films making their mark at Cannes through the corporation’s efforts, bringing regional stories to a global stage.

Directed by Jayant Somalkar and presented by veteran actor Sachin Pilgaonkar, Sthal explores the complexities of arranged marriages in rural India. Featuring Nandini Chikte in the lead, the film delves into societal structures shaped by patriarchy, caste discrimination, and long-held traditions.
- Khalid Ka Shivaji
Directed by Raj More, Khalid Ka Shivaji portrays the compelling journey of a young Muslim boy, Khalid, who faces isolation from his classmates. Through his innocent quest to find inspiration in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the film highlights themes of identity, belonging, and communal harmony. - Snow Flower
Renowned director Gajendra Ahire’s Snow Flower beautifully blends the icy landscapes of Siberia with the vibrant allure of the Konkan region.
