Marathi Disrespect Sparks Rage: MNS Workers Vandalize Investor’s Office in Mumbai

Investor Sushil Kedia’s anti-Marathi tweet triggered MNS-affiliated Mathadi workers to vandalize his Mumbai office. MNS leader Sachin Gole defended the act, warning of further retaliation if Marathi pride is insulted.

Mumbai witnessed a heated backlash over linguistic pride as workers from the Mathadi Kamgar Sena — affiliated with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) — allegedly vandalized the office of investor Sushil Kedia. This action follows a tweet by Kedia that many interpreted as a direct affront to Marathi language, culture, and MNS chief Raj Thackeray.

Kedia, who has been residing and running a business in Mumbai for nearly three decades, posted on social media, saying, “I don’t like Marathi, I won’t learn it. What are you going to do about it?” Not stopping there, he even mentioned Raj Thackeray directly in the tweet, intensifying the controversy.

Reacting sharply to this, MNS office-bearer Sachin Gole claimed responsibility for the vandalism and warned of further action. “Today we targeted his office. If needed, we will go to his home tomorrow. We will not rest until Sushil Kedia gets the lesson he deserves,” Gole declared, emphasizing pride in the actions of Mathadi Kamgar Sena members.

Gole further added, “Someone who has earned a livelihood in Maharashtra for 30 years and still disrespects Marathi — that is Maharashtra’s misfortune. Kedia mocked our language and our leader. If the government doesn’t create a strict law to curb such behavior, then Maharashtra’s soldiers are ready to step in.”

According to reports, coconuts were hurled into Kedia’s office as part of the protest. The incident has sparked discussions around linguistic identity, migrant sentiments, and the limits of free speech when it collides with regional pride.

Authorities are yet to respond formally, but tensions remain high as the issue escalates from a tweet to a street-level confrontation.
