Pune | May 24, 2025: The monsoon, after hitting the southern coast of Kerala, is now expected to advance faster than usual, with predictions suggesting it could reach Maharashtra by the end of May—again, about eight days ahead of schedule.

This marks the earliest monsoon onset in Kerala since 2009, making it a significant weather event. Experts are also suggesting that this year, the monsoon may persist longer, potentially improving water availability and crop conditions nationwide.

While concerns had been raised about possible delays due to a cyclonic circulation in the Arabian Sea, the current trajectory has brought encouraging news instead. For millions dependent on agriculture and seasonal rains, this early onset could play a key role in shaping a productive season.

The early arrival of the monsoon in Kerala is a promising sign for the entire country, especially for farmers. With its likely early entry into Maharashtra as well, this timely onset raises hopes for a productive agricultural season and improved water reserves, offering much-needed relief and optimism across regions.
