A thief in Nagpur bent his body to crawl through a narrow beer shop window, stealing ₹25,000. Caught on CCTV, he was arrested a week later. He’s linked to multiple other thefts.
Nagpur | June 16, 2025: In a crime that has left the Nagpur police stunned, a bizarre theft took place at a local beer shop, where the thief slithered through a narrow counter window—without breaking any grills—and made away with ₹25,000 in cash.
The incident occurred late on June 6 at Ramshree Beer Bar, under Wathoda Police Station limits. When the shop owner noticed the missing cash, a complaint was lodged, and police immediately retrieved the CCTV footage. What they saw next was nothing short of unbelievable.
In the footage, a young man dressed in black is first seen scouting the area, peering cautiously into the shop’s cash counter window. A while later, he reappears and incredibly squeezes himself through the narrow sales window—the same space where customers collect bottles.
Using his flexible, almost rubber-like body, he manages to enter the premises without damaging any part of the structure. After carefully accessing the cash box, he escapes just as stealthily from the same space, vanishing into the night.
Nagpur’s Crime Branch Unit 4 launched a technical investigation using the video evidence and quickly identified the thief as 20-year-old Sheikh Raja Sheikh Baba, a resident originally from Amravati. He had recently moved to Nagpur with his family.
On June 13, a week after the crime, police arrested Sheikh Raja. During interrogation, he confessed not only to the beer shop theft but also admitted involvement in multiple two-wheeler thefts in Amravati.
Inspector Harish Borade of Wathoda Police Station confirmed the arrest, saying, “He is highly skilled at entering tight spaces, which makes his thefts unusual and difficult to detect. The CCTV footage helped us track him down.”
The surveillance video has gone viral, sparking conversations across Nagpur about rising theft cases and the strange tactics employed by modern-day thieves. This incident is now being seen as a wake-up call for better security at local commercial establishments.
