Nashik prepares for millions with ₹3,700 crore in road upgrades and a historic shift to Amrit Snan. Devotees anticipate a safer, more spiritual journey in 2027.

Nashik, June 25, 2025 – The holy city of Nashik is alive with preparations for the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela, a spiritual gathering that will welcome millions of pilgrims with open hearts and improved pathways. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced that Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has approved eight new roads, including the Nashik Ring Road and the route to Trimbakeshwar, alongside the widening and repair of six existing roads leading to Nashik. With ₹3,700 crore dedicated to infrastructure, these developments will ensure smoother, safer journeys for devotees, with construction set to begin within months.

This Kumbh Mela will also embrace a profound change in tradition, replacing the historic ‘Shahi Snan’ (royal bath) with ‘Amrit Snan,’ a term rooted in the sacred nectar of immortality, following a heartfelt decision by the Akhara Parishad and state officials. Expecting a threefold increase in visitors compared to 2015, Nashik is preparing to unite communities in a celebration of faith, blending modern comforts with timeless devotion on the banks of the Godavari River.
