Pune| May 23, 2025 : India’s javelin sensation Neeraj Chopra is once again gearing up to make headlines. After breaching the elusive 90-meter mark in Doha recently with a throw of 90.23m, Chopra is set to take center stage at the Orlen Janusz Kusociński Memorial in Poland this Friday — a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver event.

This will be Chopra’s third outing of the season, and all eyes will be on his renewed rivalry with Germany’s Julian Weber, who edged past him in Doha with a personal best of 91.06m. The German, who clinched the European Championship title in 2022, will once again test Neeraj’s mettle.

Neeraj, who had touched 88m back in 2018, spent years chasing the 90m dream. Now that he’s finally cracked it, he sees it not as the destination but a stepping stone. “This is just the beginning,” said Chopra, expressing confidence that more big throws are on the horizon.

The road hasn’t been easy. Last season, a persistent thigh injury hampered his performance, but with that behind him and under the guidance of new coach Jan Železný, Neeraj seems mentally and physically sharper. “I feel confident again. I believe I can cross 90 meters in multiple competitions before the World Championships,” he shared.

This European tour is a key part of Neeraj’s preparation for the World Championships set to be held in Tokyo later this year, where he aims to defend his gold medal. With form, fitness, and focus aligned, fans can expect a fierce contest – and possibly another historic throw.
