Pune | May 24, 2025: In a major relief for residents of Uruli Kanchan (Haveli Taluka) who do not have a house or land to build one, the Gram Panchayat has announced that eligible citizens will be provided assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) – not just to build a house, but also with land if required. This information was shared by Prakash Galve, the Gram Vikas Adhikari (Village Development Officer) of Uruli Kanchan.
Those living in kutcha (temporary) houses, those who own land, as well as those without any land at all, are encouraged to submit their documents to the Gram Panchayat office. Required documents include Aadhaar card, ration card, bank passbook, 7/12 extract (if available), and a face scan of the beneficiary whose name is listed on the ration card.
While the Gharkul housing scheme is already being implemented in the area, the biggest hurdle for many beneficiaries has been the lack of available space to build their homes. However, Galve assured that for those listed in the government’s shelter list and who do not have a plot to build on, the government will now also provide land in addition to housing assistance.
“It’s not just about giving a house – the government is also ensuring a place to build it,” Galve emphasized.
This move is expected to benefit the economically weaker sections, landless families, and those living in unsafe structures. Citizens have been urged to reach out to the Gram Panchayat office at the earliest to avail the benefits.
