Pune Rural Police Initiative

To re-establish the broken communication between police and the public, enhance the process of gathering confidential information, and maintain law and order more effectively, Superintendent of Police of Pune Rural, Hon. Pankaj Deshmukh has launched a new technology-enabled initiative titled “One Village, One Police Patil, One Police Constable”. This scheme is being implemented across the entire Pune rural district starting May 1, 2025.

Under this initiative, Pune rural district encompasses 13 talukas, 33 police stations, and 1,574 villages, including several hamlets and settlements. For the implementation of this scheme, a total of 1,292 Police Patils and 1,525 Police Constables have been appointed, each assigned to an individual village.

For smooth operation and digital integration, a mobile application named “Surakshit Pune Gramin” has been developed. Through this app, Police Patils and Police Constables are registered for their respective villages.

While visiting the villages, the Police Patils and Police Constables are expected to upload their geo-tagged locations and photographs via the mobile app, to ensure effective monitoring and execution of the initiative.

The proverb “One Village and Twelve Disputes” reflects how village-level conflicts can often give rise to law and order issues. To address this, the scheme aims to create a healthy image of the police at the village level and foster mutual trust. By improving coordination between the appointed Police Patils and Police Constables, the scheme seeks to enhance the law and order management in rural areas.

Furthermore, the key objective of this initiative is to promote community policing, build trust between the police and public, take swift action in crimes related to women and children, and ensure justice is delivered promptly.
