In the backdrop of political developments unfolding in Delhi, Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) leader Uddhav Thackeray chaired a late-night meeting of party MPs, sharply criticising the central government amid speculation over “Operation Tiger.”

New Delhi | August 7, 2025: Political temperatures soared in the national capital as Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray both arrived in Delhi, sparking intense political discussions. Eknath Shinde’s meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah reignited chatter about a potential political shake-up, now being termed “Operation Tiger.”

On the other hand, Uddhav Thackeray convened an emergency meeting of Shiv Sena (UBT) Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs on Wednesday night at MP Sanjay Raut’s residence at 15, Safdarjung Lane. The meeting comes just ahead of the INDIA alliance gathering, in which Thackeray is expected to participate.

During the internal meeting, Uddhav Thackeray delivered a stern message to the Centre, accusing the Modi government of prioritising power over public interest. “This government only chases power; they have no concern for the people,” Thackeray said, urging his MPs to take a firm stand in Parliament and avoid being distracted by government narratives.

He also took stock of individual MPs’ issues, both personal and professional, highlighting a shift in strategy to tighten internal cohesion amid external threats. Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray was present along with prominent MPs such as Sanjay Raut, Arvind Sawant, Anil Desai, Sanjay (Bandu) Jadhav, Rajabhau Waje, Bhausaheb Wakchoure, Sanjay Dina Patil, Sanjay Deshmukh, Omraje Nimbalkar, and Priyanka Chaturvedi.

The meeting’s timing, just hours after Eknath Shinde’s high-level talks, has added fuel to the speculation that significant moves may be on the horizon in Maharashtra politics.
