PM Modi released the 20th PM-KISAN installment worth ₹2,000 to 9.7 crore farmers from Varanasi, marking the scheme’s 5th anniversary and a total payout of over ₹3 lakh crore.

Varanasi | August 2, 2025:
Today marks a significant day for millions of farmers across India, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme from his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi. As part of this installment, ₹2,000 each has been directly transferred to the accounts of 9.7 crore farmers. This event also coincided with the celebration of the 5th anniversary of the PM-KISAN scheme.

Launched in 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme aims to provide annual financial support of ₹6,000 to small and marginal farmers, helping them meet essential agricultural needs like seeds, fertilizers, and irrigation. This amount is disbursed in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each year.

So far, over ₹3 lakh crore has been transferred directly to farmers’ bank accounts under the scheme, making it one of the largest Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) initiatives for farmers in the country. The latest installment, amounting to ₹20,500 crore, is expected to not only ease financial pressure on farmers but also stimulate the rural economy.

This is the first time PM Modi has released the PM-KISAN installment from Varanasi, adding symbolic value to the occasion.

How to Check Installment Status:
Farmers can verify whether the latest installment has been credited using the following steps:

  1. Visit the official website: https://pmkisan.gov.in
  2. Navigate to the “Kisan Corner” section.
  3. Click on “Beneficiary Status”.
  4. Enter your registration number or Aadhaar number.
  5. Fill in the captcha and click on “Get Data”.

The portal will display the status of the installment. If any issues are found—like missing payments or incorrect information—farmers should contact their CSC center, Taluka Agriculture Office, or the concerned department. The website also offers an online complaint facility for rectification.
