Pune, April 8: In a significant step towards strengthening urban mobility, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has announced a major expansion and modernization of its public transport fleet.
Speaking to NewsDotz, PMPML Chairperson and Managing Director Deepa Mudhol Munde (IAS) revealed that the PMPML is set to add 1,100 new buses to its fleet this year. “This includes 400 contract buses and 200 newly purchased buses under existing work orders. The remaining buses will be added gradually over the course of the year,” she said.
In a move towards sustainable transportation, PMPML also plans to introduce 1,000 electric buses, aimed at reducing the carbon footprint and improving commuter convenience.
This ambitious expansion is expected to significantly improve the efficiency, coverage, and environmental impact of Pune’s public transport system.
