PMPML to start six circular bus services in Chakan MIDC from next week, easing commute for workers by aligning with shift timings and reducing traffic, cost, and reliance on private transport.
Pune| 28 July, 2025: – In a major relief for lakhs of workers in the Chakan MIDC area, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal (PMPML) has announced the launch of six circular bus services in the Chakan industrial estate. This initiative aims to make the daily travel of industrial workers safer, faster, and more cost-effective.
The circular route will cover key points such as Ambethan Chowk, Spicer Chowk, Skoda Company, HP Chowk, and back to Ambethan Chowk. The service is set to begin next week, with buses scheduled to align with morning, afternoon, and night shifts of various companies.
Chakan MIDC, spread over 607 acres, is home to global companies like Mahindra, Skoda, and Volkswagen, while the Bhosari industrial zone spans over 3,500 acres. The region sees a daily influx of lakhs of workers who currently rely heavily on private vehicles or shared rickshaws, leading to traffic congestion and rising travel costs.
To address these challenges, PMPML conducted a comprehensive route survey and has proposed bus stops at key intersections. Chief Manager Satish Gavanhe confirmed that the bus frequency will be adjusted based on worker demand.
This new service is expected to reduce travel time, ease congestion, and offer a dependable transport option for thousands of workers commuting daily to Chakan’s manufacturing hubs.
