Pune | July 22, 2025: To tackle rising traffic congestion in the Hinjewadi-Maan-Marunji area, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has launched a decisive anti-encroachment drive. In the last 15 days alone, 166 unauthorized constructions and encroachments have been removed, providing much-needed relief to the daily traffic chaos in this busy IT corridor.

Areas including Laxmi Chowk, Wipro Circle, and Maan Road have seen major action. Specifically, 14 structures were cleared near Wipro Circle, 38 from Laxmi Chowk to Mezza Nine, and 66 from the Maan Road area. An additional 73 encroachments are under process from Laxmi Chowk to Marunji, while 28 illegal rooms near Maan Gaon Nala and 19 holdings in Hinjewadi have been cleared.

Encroachments were also affecting the natural flow of local streams and drains, contributing to both traffic and environmental issues. PMRDA has issued notices to offenders and ongoing surveys are being conducted in Hinjewadi, Maan, Marunji, and key connecting roads like Shivaji Chowk to Smshanbhoomi and Wakad Road.

The initiative is being carried out under the guidance of PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase and led by Dr. Deepti Suryavanshi, Tehsildar Asha Holkar, and their dedicated team. Officials report that many violators are voluntarily dismantling their structures following notices.

With this proactive campaign, PMRDA aims to restore smooth traffic flow and maintain civic order in one of Pune’s most rapidly growing zones.
