Property Registration Goes Statewide: Maharashtra's 'Anywhere Registration' Scheme Starts May 1

Starting May 1, Maharashtra will launch a ‘Unified Registration’ system, allowing property documents to be registered at any sub-registrar office statewide. This move eliminates jurisdictional restrictions, reduces delays, and supports digital governance with features like online valuation, faceless registration, and Aadhaar/PAN-based verification for smoother transactions.

Pune, April 21, 2025: Maharashtra is set to revolutionize property transactions with a new ‘Unified Registration’ system that allows citizens to register documents at any sub-registrar office across the state—eliminating jurisdictional hassles and saving time.

Breaking Geographic Barriers
Gone are the days of being tied to a specific district office for property deals. Starting May 1, buyers and sellers can complete registrations at their nearest or most convenient office, cutting travel costs and bureaucratic delays.

Pilot Success Paves the Way
After positive trials in Mumbai, Pune, and Thane—where 48 secondary registration centers saw smooth operations—the scheme is now rolling out statewide. The move follows the government’s push to digitize services under the ‘Digital India’ mission.

Digital Leap: Online Valuation & ‘Faceless’ Registration
The overhaul introduces:
Online document assessment to reduce errors and fraud
Faceless registration for select deeds, enabling remote processing
Mandatory digital signatures by officials for authenticity
Aadhaar/PAN-based verification to streamline identity checks
This reform aims to make property transactions faster, transparent, and truly citizen-centric
