Pune, April 11, 2025: Pune Startup Expo 2025, hosted on April 10 at MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), marked a significant step toward fostering innovation across all corners of Maharashtra. With a focus on inclusivity and equal opportunity, the event aimed to empower budding entrepreneurs, especially from rural and semi-urban areas.

Supporting Grassroots Entrepreneurship

The event was inaugurated by Ashish Shelar, Maharashtra’s Minister for Information Technology and Culture. In his keynote speech, Shelar stressed the importance of creating decentralized platforms that enable innovation beyond the confines of urban centers. He emphasized that these initiatives are aligned with India’s constitutional values of equality and opportunity, aiming to support talent in underrepresented regions.

Connecting Innovation with Investment

Pune Startup Expo 2025 featured more than 500 startups from various sectors, including agri-tech, edtech, health tech, and clean energy. A large portion of these ventures originated from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, as well as rural districts of Maharashtra.

The core objective of the expo was to facilitate networking between grassroots innovators and investors. Several venture capitalists and angel investors attended, exploring partnerships and funding possibilities. To celebrate innovation, 24 outstanding startups were recognized and felicitated during the event.
