Heavy rainfall is expected across Maharashtra’s Ghat regions, prompting orange alerts. Pune, Kolhapur, and Satara Ghats are under watch, while Solapur and Sangli may see lighter showers. Caution advised statewide.

PUNE, JULY 5:
With monsoon conditions strengthening across Maharashtra, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange alerts in several Ghat regions, warning of heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours. Konkan and the Western Ghats are expected to receive intense showers today, as weather systems remain favorable for widespread rain activity.

🔸 Pune District:

While Pune city recorded relatively mild rainfall — 1.6 mm in Shivajinagar — the Ghat sections in the district are witnessing heavy downpours. The maximum temperature touched 29.7°C, and the IMD has sounded an orange alert for Ghat areas again today, urging citizens and travelers to remain cautious.

🔸 Kolhapur District:

Rainfall continues steadily in Kolhapur with 15 mm recorded over the last 24 hours. The mercury is expected to stay around 26°C, with an orange alert issued for Kolhapur Ghats due to likely heavy rain.

🔸 Satara District:

Satara has been experiencing consistent heavy rainfall, logging 17 mm in the past day. The maximum temperature is expected to be 28°C, with cloudy skies and the possibility of moderate showers in plains and heavy rain in Ghats. The IMD has declared an orange alert for the Ghat regions here as well.

🔸 Solapur District:

In contrast, Solapur recorded just 0.1 mm of rainfall, maintaining a high temperature of 31.7°C. The forecast suggests light rain at isolated places, with temperatures likely to hover around 32°C today.

🔸 Sangli District:

Sangli received 3 mm of rainfall on Friday. The district may experience moderate showers under cloudy conditions in the next 24 hours. Temperatures are forecasted to range between 22°C (min) and 28°C (max).

As monsoon activity gains momentum, the IMD has advised farmers, tourists, and residents in vulnerable areas — particularly in hilly and Ghat regions — to exercise caution. The weather remains unpredictable and rapidly changing, and citizens are urged to stay updated with local forecasts.
