Monsoon returns to Maharashtra after a dry spell. IMD issues red alert for Ratnagiri, orange for Konkan-Marathwada. Rainfall expected in most regions; Vidarbha faces continued heatwave with 42°C temperatures.

June 13, 2025 | Maharashtra:After a prolonged dry spell following early showers, the monsoon is finally making a comeback across Maharashtra. As soon as the rains paused, a sudden rise in temperatures was observed across most districts, troubling both citizens and farmers, especially those awaiting crucial sowing conditions. Now, with favorable conditions redeveloping, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that monsoon activity is regaining momentum in the state.

Rain Intensity Increases, Alerts Issued

Ratnagiri has been placed under a red alert due to heavy and intense rainfall expected in the coming hours. Several areas in Konkan and Marathwada are under orange alert, signaling the return of active rainfall. Mumbai, Pune, Palghar, Solapur, Beed, and Dharashiv are under yellow alert, with moderate rainfall forecasted.

Region-Wise Weather Forecast

In the Konkan region, heavy rains are expected in Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg over the next 24 hours. In Western Maharashtra, districts like Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Solapur are likely to receive light to moderate rain, which will help bring down the temperature and support agricultural activity.

In Vidarbha, including Nagpur, Amravati, Akola, Gondia, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Buldhana, and Wardha, despite light showers in some places, heatwave conditions persist. Temperatures may soar between 40 to 42°C, raising the risk of heatstroke. Citizens are advised to take precautions.

In Marathwada, including Latur, Beed, Parbhani, and Nanded, the heatwave conditions are easing. Light showers are expected to provide some relief and slightly lower the temperature.

In Mumbai, the weather will remain cloudy today with intermittent light rains. The temperature is likely to remain between 28°C and 32°C. Pune, Nashik, Ahmednagar, and Aurangabad are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall between June 13 and 16. This cooling trend will benefit farmers and support timely sowing.

Farmers and Citizens: Stay Alert

The return of monsoon rains is good news for farmers across Maharashtra, especially those worried about delayed sowing. However, the fluctuating conditions — particularly the continued heat in Vidarbha — call for vigilance and protective measures.
