₹650 crore traffic projects in Hinjewadi remain stalled due to shifting responsibilities between departments. With rising vehicles and flooding, residents face daily chaos and demand immediate action from authorities.

Hinjewadi | June 13, 2025 : In Hinjewadi’s Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park, where lakhs commute daily, traffic jams and waterlogging have become a constant struggle. Despite ambitious plans worth ₹650 crore for flyovers and alternative roads, bureaucratic delays have brought everything to a standstill.

The responsibility for land acquisition—key to project execution—has bounced between the Public Works Department, MIDC, and now the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). This administrative tug-of-war has meant that in the past six months, no actual progress has been made—only meetings to decide which body should act.

With the number of vehicles increasing rapidly, existing roads are proving grossly insufficient. A recent cloudburst led to severe waterlogging across Hinjewadi, Maan, and Marunji, paralyzing traffic and sparking viral social media outrage. Residents mockingly called it a “Water Park” instead of an IT park.

Metro work and stalled drain-cleaning projects have worsened the situation. In response, Dr. Mhase has directed all agencies to clean drains immediately and clear debris to prevent further disruptions.
