Pune| May 28, 2025 : A 30-year-old business owner is fighting for his life in the ICU following a terrifying road rage event in Bhosari on Monday morning. The man was allegedly stabbed several times after a conflict with a motorcyclist who was traveling on the incorrect side of the street.

The victim, Shahnawaz Ansari, who operates a powder-coating business alongside his cousin, Tabrez Ansari, suffered serious injuries and is in critical condition after undergoing emergency surgery. His relative was also injured in the assault.

The startling incident occurred at approximately 11 a.m. in the Mohan Nagar region of Bhosari, as the cousins were making their way to their workshop on a two-wheeler. They were said to have been hindered by another cyclist approaching from the opposite direction. A straightforward request to clear the way reportedly turned into threats and mistreatment.

What began as a spoken interaction escalated into a brutal attack when the biker summoned reinforcements. Shortly after, two men came back on a different bike, hindered the cousins once more, and initiated a vicious assault. As one attacker smashed a rock onto Tabrez, the other continually stabbed Shahnawaz — hitting his chest, back, waist, and thigh — and also struck him on the head before both escaped the scene.

Shahnawaz was quickly taken to a hospital and is now receiving intensive care. Police officials report that his condition is still unstable.

Authorities have now apprehended Vishal Bhaskar Dhainje (37), a laborer in construction, due to his supposed participation in the attack. He was brought before a court and has been placed in police custody until May 31. Authorities are currently seeking the second individual linked to the assault.

Investigating officer Sub Inspector Imran Shaikh confirmed that there was no previous connection between the attackers and the victims, indicating that the violence stemmed purely from the spontaneous road dispute.

Senior Inspector Sandeep Ghorpade of Bhosari Police Station mentioned that a case of attempted murder has been registered following a complaint by Tabrez.

This incident has raised serious concerns about rising aggression on the roads and how quickly a minor altercation can spiral into life-threatening violence.
