Pune, May 09, 2025: In a landmark step for dental science, Bharati Vidyapeeth Dental College in Dhankawadi has successfully performed a dental surgery using robotic arms—an achievement believed to be the first of its kind globally. The procedure was completed after clinical trials on veneers, marking a new chapter in the use of robotics in oral healthcare.

Dr. Asmita Jagtap, Executive Director, Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical Foundation emphasized the global importance of the breakthrough. This innovation not just enhances the accuracy of treatment but is also signaling a new era of robotic dentistry, according to her claims.


Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar, the principal of the college, noted that robotic assistance has significantly elevated the standard of patient care and treatment effectiveness. The project was developed in partnership with France-based Lupin Dental, further strengthening the institute’s global collaborations in research and technology.


Hospital Director Dr. Sanjay Londhe added that this accomplishment reflects the dedication and skill of the college’s faculty and students. He emphasized that the hospital is already equipped with state-of-the-art tools—ranging from lasers and microscopes to CAD-CAM systems and digital scanners—ensuring top-tier care and constant innovation.


This robotic advancement positions the institute at the cutting edge of dental education and sets a strong foundation for future exploration in dental robotics.
