Royal Enfield has teased its first Himalayan Electric adventure bike, expected by 2026. Rugged design, off-road tech, and eco-friendly materials make it a game-changer in India’s electric two-wheeler market

New Delhi | June 16, 2025: Royal Enfield has officially stepped into the electric two-wheeler space with the reveal of its much-anticipated Himalayan Electric. This marks the brand’s first venture into electric motorcycles, blending adventure-ready DNA with future-focused innovation. The company confirmed that the production model is expected to launch by 2026.

Built on the chassis of the popular Himalayan 450, the electric version carries over the bike’s trademark ruggedness — complete with round LED headlamps, a tall windscreen, a single-piece seat, wire-spoke wheels, and chunky off-road tires designed to handle tough terrains. The prototype has already been tested at Khardung La Pass in Ladakh, standing at 18,380 feet above sea level — a nod to its durability and adventurous spirit.

The Himalayan Electric was also displayed at the 2023 and 2024 EICMA expos, but this is the first time Royal Enfield has teased it officially to the public. Alongside it, the company also showcased the Himalayan 750, which is expected to come with a more powerful engine.

While detailed specs like the motor capacity and battery size haven’t been released, one key innovation is the battery being integrated into the bike’s frame, improving overall balance and structural strength. The frame is also fitted with body panels made from eco-friendly flex fiber composite, marrying sustainability with performance.

Suspension tech could include inverted front forks and an electronically adjustable monoshock at the rear, making the bike capable of handling varied terrain with ease. It is also expected to feature a TFT digital console, riding modes, and connected navigation, likely inspired by Royal Enfield’s existing Tripper navigation system. Expected to be priced between ₹7–8 lakh (ex-showroom), the Himalayan Electric will target eco-conscious adventurers and could redefine the segment of electric touring bikes in India
