A hall worth ₹45 lakh sanctioned for Malshiras Nagar Panchayat exists only on paper. Political leaders allege corruption, prompting the Solapur Collector to order a probe headed by the Additional District Collector.

Malshiras | July 17, 2025: A bizarre case of alleged large-scale corruption has come to light in Malshiras, where a municipal hall worth ₹45 lakh appears to have gone completely missing. According to Malshiras corporator Reshma Tele, the hall exists only on paper, sparking a political uproar across all parties in the taluka.

At a press conference, Tele revealed that a sanctioned fund of ₹44.99 lakh was allotted for the construction of a Nagar Panchayat hall. A work order was issued accordingly. Shockingly, on the very same day the work order was issued, a bill for the hall’s “completed” construction was submitted. But when locals and officials began searching for the hall’s actual location, no such structure could be found anywhere in Malshiras.

“This is nothing short of the hall being stolen,” said Tele, who alleged that this is a clear case of development shown only on paper. Several corporators and political leaders—including Reshma Tele, Kailas Vaman, Somnath Waghmode, Kiran Chavan, and Pandurang Tatya Waghmode—have jointly filed a formal complaint with the Solapur District Collector.

Former BJP mayor Appasaheb Deshmukh, who currently holds influence over the Nagar Panchayat, has been accused of orchestrating the fraud in collusion with officials and political allies. They allegedly showed the hall project as completed to siphon off the funds.

In response to the allegations, the District Collector of Solapur has ordered an official inquiry into the matter. A committee headed by the Additional District Collector will now investigate the missing hall scandal.
