Jakarta, June 06,2025: India’s top men’s doubles duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty advanced to the quarterfinals of the prestigious Indonesia Open Super 1000 badminton tournament, while the country faced a setback in the women’s singles event with P.V. Sindhu exiting in the second round.
Fresh off their semifinal run at last week’s Singapore Open, Satwik and Chirag displayed grit and determination in their second-round match against Denmark’s Rasmus Kjaer and Frederik Søgaard.
The Danish pair initially seized the momentum, clinching the opening game 21-16. However, the Indian pair regrouped and fought back with precision to take the second game 21-18, pushing the match into a decider.
The third game turned into a nail-biting affair, with both sides refusing to give an inch. In the crucial final moments, Satwik and Chirag held their nerve to edge out their opponents 22-20, sealing their place in the last eight.
Meanwhile, two-time Olympic medallist P.V. Sindhu’s campaign ended in disappointment as she fell in the second round, cutting short India’s hopes in the women’s singles bracket.
