Two Officer in Akola were arrested for drugging, filming, and blackmailing a senior bank officer using an obscene video. The victim paid ₹80,000. Police urge caution with dating apps.
Akola, June 30, 2025: A disturbing case of blackmail and cyber exploitation has come to light in Akola, where two youths allegedly drugged and filmed a senior bank officer in a compromising situation, later using the video to extort money. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Khadan Police Station, and two accused have been arrested.
According to the police, the bank officer had connected with the accused through a gay-dating mobile application. Over time, their interactions grew frequent and personal, including communication over WhatsApp. Eventually, the trio agreed to meet near the Morna river on Hingna Road, a secluded area within Khadan Police limits.
At the meeting spot, the bank officer was allegedly administered a sex-enhancing injection, as were the accused. During the encounter, a hidden camera was used to record an explicit video of the official. Later, the accused sent the footage to the victim and threatened to leak it online unless he paid money.
Terrified and under pressure, the bank officer paid ₹80,000 to the accused, who continued to blackmail him. Finally, unable to endure the harassment, the officer approached the police and filed a formal complaint.
Based on the complaint, Khadan police arrested Manish Naik and Mayur Bagde. An investigation is underway to track down any additional accomplices involved in the extortion attempt.
Khadan Police Station PI Manoj Kedare has issued a warning to citizens, urging them to stay cautious while interacting on social media and dating apps, especially to avoid falling into such exploitation traps.
