Shri Raj Kumar Arora, a 1990-batch IDAS officer, took charge as Controller General of Defence Accounts, bringing vast experience in finance, audit, procurement, and top government roles in defence and finance.
New Delhi | August 2, 2025: Shri Raj Kumar Arora has officially assumed charge as the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) on August 1, 2025. A distinguished officer from the 1990 batch of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS), Arora brings with him a wealth of experience spanning key domains such as financial policy, accounting, auditing, budgeting, procurement, and human resource management.
Throughout his illustrious career, Shri Arora has held several high-ranking positions within the Government of India. Notably, he served as Additional Secretary at the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), and as Finance Manager (Air) in the Acquisition Wing of the Ministry of Defence—where he oversaw vital defence procurement matters. His tenure also includes a pivotal role as Director in the Ministry of Finance.
In the Defence Accounts Department, he has worked in field units and held the post of Integrated Financial Advisor (IFA) in various military commands, playing a crucial role in ensuring fiscal oversight and strategic financial planning. He was also Member (Finance) in the erstwhile Ordnance Factory Board, contributing to critical decisions related to defence manufacturing and reforms.
As CGDA, Shri Arora is expected to further strengthen the financial management framework of the Defence Services and enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in defence-related financial operations.
