Pimpri‑Chinchwad police nabbed six illegal Bangladeshi residents, verified their nationality, and with BSF help flew them Pune‑Guwahati before deporting them to Bangladesh on 22 July via special flight and tight security.
Pune | July 24, 2025: Acting on a tip‑off, Pimpri‑Chinchwad Crime Branch Unit 4 intercepted a private vehicle at Bhujbal Chowk, Wakad, along the Pune–Bengaluru highway. Inside were six men—Mohammad Usman Shirajun Ali Sheikh, Abdullah Shagar Mulla, Mobin Haroon Sheikh, Jahangir Billa Mulla, Mohammad Elahin Ilyaz Biswas and Tohid Muslim Hasan Sheikh—suspected of travelling to Mumbai under false pretences.
Initial questioning yielded evasive replies, but a deeper probe uncovered documents confirming they were Bangladeshi nationals who had slipped into India without valid papers. The police immediately informed immigration authorities and began the repatriation process.
On 22 July, the group was escorted under tight security to Pune’s Lohegaon airport, handed over to the Border Security Force and flown to Guwahati on a special charter. From there, BSF officials transported them across the international border, completing their return to Bangladesh the same day.
Senior officers said the swift operation underscores the city’s zero‑tolerance stance on illegal migration and thanked citizens for timely intelligence that helped avert potential security risks.
