A ₹65,000 fake degree racket in Nalasopara has been exposed by activist Sunny Rawal. Six arrested, but the mastermind remains free. Multiple universities across India are under investigation for involvement.
Nalasopara, Maharashtra | August 2, 2025: A major education scam has come to light in Nalasopara after social activist Sunny Rawal exposed a fake mark sheet racket, sparking outrage and concern across the academic sector. The racket allegedly offers a backdated B.Com degree within just three months for ₹65,000, raising serious questions about the integrity of several universities and institutions.
Despite the racket coming to light five months ago, a case was registered only recently at the Valiv police station in Vasai. Shockingly, it reportedly took nine months to initiate action against the prime suspects. So far, six arrests have been made, but the main mastermind remains at large.
Police Action and Allegations
The accused arrested so far include agents Anupama Nayan Mandal, Sangeeta Sunil Jain, and employee Shraddha Arekar, who were detained on July 18. However, activist Sunny Rawal has made serious allegations against the investigating officer Police Sub-Inspector Sandesh Rane, claiming a deliberate attempt to shield the prime accused — Deep Bhalla and Ravi Bhalla — who were allegedly present during the raid but were not apprehended.
Universities Under the Scanner
During the crackdown, police seized mark sheets, stamps, backdated results, printers, and other crucial documents. Several universities across multiple states have been linked to the racket, including:
ISBN University (Chhattisgarh),Maths University (Raipur, Chhattisgarh),Neelam University (Kaithal, Haryana),Monard University (Hapur, Uttar Pradesh),Calox University,Teachers University (Ahmedabad, Gujarat),Kalinga University (Raipur, Chhattisgarh),Arni University (Kangra, Himachal Pradesh),Sunrise University (Alwar, Rajasthan).
Rawal has called this action “just the tip of the iceberg,” alleging that a massive education mafia involving multiple universities is still under cover. He has demanded a full-fledged probe into the scam and swift action against those still evading justice.
The exposure has sent shockwaves through the education system, with many demanding statewide and national-level audits of degree-issuing bodies and private universities.
