Tata Power’s ‘Anokha Dhaaga’ has recycled 5,000 kg of plastic waste into fabric products, empowering women entrepreneurs with ₹20 lakh in revenue, while advancing circular economy goals and promoting sustainability.

Mumbai | June 9, 2025: In a prime illustration of sustainability fostered by the community, Tata Power’s ‘Anokha Dhaaga Smart Circularity Program’ has effectively converted more than 5,000 kg of single-use plastic waste into high-quality recycled fabric items, all while empowering female entrepreneurs. The initiative, led by women across six centres, tackles the pressing issue of plastic pollution while fostering local livelihoods. So far, the entrepreneurs have collectively generated over ₹20 lakh in fair-trade revenue, turning waste management into a meaningful economic opportunity.

Further enhancing its circularity mission, the program also incorporates denim donations — giving new life to used clothing and extending product lifecycles. The effort aligns with Tata Group’s ‘Project Aalagan’ and Tata Power’s broader commitment to circular economy solutions.

Launched in harmony with the spirit of World Environment Day 2025 and its theme “End Plastic Pollution,” the initiative underscores how sustainable innovation and grassroots empowerment can create lasting environmental and social impact.

“This program is a testament to how circularity can address the plastic crisis while strengthening community resilience,” a Tata Power spokesperson said.

By combining environmental stewardship with economic inclusion, ‘Anokha Dhaaga’ sets a compelling example for corporate-led sustainable development.
