24-year-old professor Srividya died by suicide in Andhra Pradesh after months of domestic abuse. Her heartbreaking note to her brother ahead of Raksha Bandhan has triggered widespread shock and sorrow.

Amravati(Andhra Pradesh) | August 5, 2025: A heart-wrenching case of domestic violence has shaken Andhra Pradesh, where 24-year-old college professor Srividya took her own life just six months into her marriage. In a tearful note left behind for her younger brother, Srividya wrote, “Be careful, little brother. This time I cannot tie you a rakhi,” exposing the deep emotional trauma she endured before her death.

The tragic incident occurred in Krishna district. Srividya was married to Rambabu, a village surveyor, who allegedly began harassing her barely a month into their marriage. According to the suicide note, Rambabu regularly returned home intoxicated, hurled insults at Srividya, and subjected her to both physical and mental torture. He often beat her, slammed her head against the bed, and degraded her in front of others, calling her “useless.”

Srividya’s letter paints a grim picture of ongoing abuse that became unbearable, ultimately pushing her toward suicide. Her last words have stirred public outrage and sorrow, especially as Raksha Bandhan approaches, a festival symbolizing the bond between brothers and sisters.

Local police have begun investigating the matter, and legal action against those responsible is expected.
