Three severely decomposed bodies were found inside a car recovered from a drain in Kasara, days after a suspected road accident. Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the tragic incident.

Pune | 07 June,2025: A disturbing case has surfaced in Shahapur taluka’s Umbarmali area, where three highly decomposed bodies were discovered inside a car submerged in a roadside drain along the Mumbai-Nashik highway.
The grim discovery was made when a local woman, out grazing her cattle near the area, noticed a vehicle lodged amidst thick bushes and trees along the stream. Approaching the scene, she was overwhelmed by a strong foul smell emanating from the car. Alarmed, she alerted nearby villagers and promptly informed Kasara police.
Police and disaster management teams arrived swiftly, using a crane to extract the wrecked car from the dense foliage. Upon inspection, they found three bodies inside the vehicle, all severely decomposed, indicating that the accident likely occurred four to five days earlier.
Preliminary identification points to one of the deceased as Yajnesh Vaghela, aged between 25 and 30. The vehicle is believed to be registered in Mumbai’s Andheri-Khar area.
Authorities have begun notifying the families of the deceased and are conducting a panchnama at the accident site. Investigators are working to determine how the car veered off the road and under what circumstances it ended up in the drain.
Given the advanced state of decomposition, police suspect that the accident went unnoticed for several days. While an accidental death appears likely, officials are not ruling out any possibilities and are continuing their investigation.
The delayed discovery has sent shockwaves through the local community.
