Voter Cards in 15 Days: Election Commission Launches Fast-Track EPIC Delivery System

ECI introduces 15-day fast-track delivery for voter ID cards with real-time tracking. The digital system cuts processing time by half while ensuring secure and transparent card distribution.

In a significant upgrade to electoral services, the Election Commission of India has introduced a streamlined process that guarantees delivery of new or updated voter ID cards within just 15 days of application. This citizen-centric initiative, which covers both first-time voters and those making corrections to their existing cards, replaces the previous system that often took over a month to process applications.

The new system leverages digital integration between the ECINet platform and India Post to provide real-time tracking of voter ID cards from processing to doorstep delivery. Applicants will receive SMS notifications at every stage – when their Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) is generated by election officials, when it’s dispatched, and when it’s out for delivery. This complete transparency aims to eliminate the uncertainty that previously surrounded voter card applications.

Officials highlight that the automated system not only cuts processing time in half but also enhances data security through end-to-end encryption. The initiative is particularly significant for urban centers like Pune that handle high volumes of voter registrations and updates. With several state elections approaching, the Election Commission hopes this efficient new system will boost public confidence in electoral processes and encourage greater voter participation.
